A recent survey carried out by Volac and Germinal of more than 150 dairy farmers, reveals a shift towards more progressive grass silage-making practices.
In particular the survey points to the increasing popularity of taking first cuts earlier and making more frequent subsequent cuts, an approach known as 'multi-cut'.
This latest trend should help UK producers improve milk from forage performance, but care is needed to ensure producers maximise the benefits.
